We the humans of Terra, or Earth, need a common political objective and solution in order to overcome the challenges that threaten our immediate survival.

My intent is for my generation's children to live in a world where the challenges of today do not persist, so that they may truly know peace, prosperity, freedom, and sovereignty.

This message is for the ears and eyes of every human being that inhabits or has roots from our world. I, a free human being, peacefully declare myself separate from the existing planetary control mechanisms of today. As these words are evoked the year is 2016, and as one should come to realize, the economic, political and social systems in this world we inhabit are not designed for the common folk. The path that is being laid for the vast majority of our people will leave my generation, and the future generation, no planet to inherit. In order to go about creating change we the people must be educated.

The direction our civilizations are being ushered towards is a threat to all life on this planet. The majority of today's organized nation-state governments are a fraud. The majority of people who believe they live in a free democratic state do not fully understand the concepts of freedom. In reality, non-government organizations (NGOs) exert tremendous influence over the majority of nation-states' economic, social, and political policies.

The instruments of control used to subdue the human race are exercised through political administrations, financial systems, religious institutions, transnational corporations, educational institutions, the cumulative poisoning of our environment, and through the dedicated suppression of information. These factors are constricting the freedom and sovereignty of humans everywhere.

From the perspective of somebody who lives in the United States, the American people are not free. The American people do not live in the democratic republic defined by the Constitution. If you have not yet noticed, the federal government of the United States has been overthrown for quite some time now. The federal government no longer represents the American people, for they have committed egregious actions routinely against humans and democracy everywhere. We the people are constantly being lied to, tricked, poisoned, and divided by institutions that want to literally enslave and/or slaughter us.

The lies begin with the schools. From grade school to college the vast majority of us (specifically the American youth) have been misinformed and uneducated on the most critical of subjects; such as history, nutrition, geography, geology, archaeology, and physics. We are forced to jump through a dozen different standardized test hoops in order to prove our intelligence and aptitude. We are then told that our high school diploma is practically worthless on the job market, and the only way we will be able to realistically survive within the current economy is with a college education. For the most of us, we are taught to shackle ourselves with artificially priced educations that keep individuals financially restricted for decades.

Meanwhile, as we are routinely poisoned and misguided, we are ushered into this Orwellian fascist police state. The murdering of children and unarmed citizens by public officials has become a daily occurrence. The militarized police forces, tasked with the duty to protect the public, have instead terrorized communities and families. The murdering of innocent citizens by dishonorable militarized police officers is a strategy used to divide the American people against one another.

The sovereignty of the United States, and many other countries, initially eroded from the organized efforts of the private banking dynasties. Privately owned and managed financial institutions, like the Federal Reserve Bank, are in direct control over the creation and supply of nation-state currencies. Now in the United States, this is a clear violation of the American Constitution. Article 1, section 8, clause 5 states that congress, and only congress, has the power

To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures”.

Remember that according to the 10th amendment,

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people”.

How then does the federal government find the authority to charter a private central bank responsible for writing domestic and international monetary policies? Even more puzzling is why the United States Treasury should borrow Federal Reserve Notes from the Federal Reserve instead of simply issuing debt-free money into national circulation. We should also be well aware that the Federal Reserve's policies are not restricted to just the United States, for their policies directly influence international financial institutions, like The International Monetary Fund (IMF), and The World Bank Group (WBG). The policies of the Federal Reserve have only benefited the rich and few, chiefly their affiliate bankers and today's transnational corporations. The federal government of today has and continues to grossly overstep the restrictions set forth by the American Constitution.

Americans have been taught that the Supreme Court is responsible for interpreting the “gray areas” of the Constitution, however there seems to be a major misconception of how the rule of law really operates today. The majority of American law practices and education is controlled by a monopoly known as the BAR (British Accredited Registry) Association. Each state maintains a BAR, and the vast majority of all lawyers, prosecutors, and judges are required members. This association does not teach or practice American constitutional law, they teach uniform commercial code, which is enforced in admiralty law court. Admiralty law is technically define as maritime law, and is enforced in admiralty tribunals and courts. Uniform commercial code is what could be called as international corporate law, or law for businesses and corporate governments.

To apply uniform commercial code in human civil and criminal courts is anti-human. For in this system, the citizen is considered property of the state, which is simply denoted by pieces of arbitrary paper. In other words, uniform commercial code was not designed for people, it was designed as conflict resolution regarding the matter of national and international business and property disputes. Humans, as we should all know, are not pieces of property.

The auspices onto which these unconstitutional laws are acted upon is based on a concept known as “adhesion contracts”. If the American people were educated on the reality of the current judicial process, then the majority of national legislation approved today would be, and should be, considered repugnant law. Likewise is this true for every sovereign individual and for all repugnant international treaties.

A concise example of how the current judicial system has failed the American people would be the notorious 2010 Supreme Court case “Citizen's United vs. Federal Election Committee”. According to the Supreme Court, unlimited amounts of political contributions may be donated to any individual political campaign or party, by domestic corporations owned by foreign interests, political action committees, and individuals. According to the Supreme Court, this ruling is somehow considered Constitutional. The concept that foreign private interests, like the authoritarian regime of Saudi Arabia or the criminal apartheid state of Israel, are allowed to directly influence American politicians, does not appear legitimate even to the ignorant.

Furthermore, the federal agencies tasked with protecting the American people from poison have intentionally failed repeatedly. The saturation of toxins in our environment and diet is no accident. These poisons are undoubtedly responsible for the unprecedented number of people diagnosed with at least one chronic condition within the United States (117 million Americans according to the Center for Disease Control). This population has become a ripe market for the consolidated pharmaceutical and health care industry to sell overpriced experimental synthetic drugs to. The fact that one third of the American population is sick creates a tremendous financial burden on our society and families.

We the people and citizens of the state are being tricked and deceived by a group of greedy leeches. Some of these leeches are represented by lesser leeches known as lobbyists (lawyers), who are employed by industries like “Big War”, “Big Ag”, Big Oil”, “Big Chemical” and “Big Pharma”. These industries willingly commit horrendous crimes against all life, and not naively for the vain sake of profits either. The vast proportion of the population becoming sick, paralleling with the escalating costs of health care, become additional bills tacked on to our already artificially high costs of living.

But what of the medical practitioners, charity organizations, and researchers spending all this time and money trying to cure disease? The truth of the matter is that medical education has been stripped down and manipulated beyond belief. Although great advancements in certain fields of medical and surgical sciences have been achieved, the medical paradigm within the United States continues to be financed by eugenicists and the unsustainable pharmaceutical and health care industry. This paradigm of drug approach medicine to treat symptoms, and not actually treat the root cause of illnesses is unsustainable and unpractical. The cancer industry serves as a prime testament to this criminality. There is not a single reason today why millions of human beings should suffer from the sicknesses of cancer. The agenda of the medical establishment entails more than just profit, for they openly fund the depopulation of the human race. This agenda is currently being achieved through the sinister international vaccine campaign, and through the manipulation and repression of medical sciences.

Another unsustainable industry would be the energy industry. In today's world, energy conglomerates are “legally” allowed to commit horrendous crimes against our shared biosphere. Examples of these crimes will include deep ocean oil drilling, high volume hydraulic fracturing, and the facilitation of plutonium producing nuclear power plants. No group or individual has any right to damage our world for the justification of profits. Governments and private industry have invested tremendous efforts in the suppression of free energy applied sciences. Free energy inventions and discoveries are kept hidden by murdering the inventors, buying the patent rights of the invention, and misinforming the public through education and corporate consolidated media.

One of the biggest frauds of the industrial and modern era is the “costs of energy”. International and national commerce and transportation are all greatly dependent on unsustainable energy, and this is by no means an accident. The international dependence on fossil fuels is not only obsolete and unsustainable, but comes at an unfathomable ecological price. All of these costs and consequences are ridiculous and artificial. For example, did you know that current automobile carburetors could be converted to burn alcohol or hydrogen instead of gasoline? This technique of converting cars to burn clean or become substantially fuel efficient, has been demonstrated time and time again.

Other common examples of sustainable energy technology would include energy efficient solar technology, geothermal energy, hydrogen fuel, the cannabis plant, and electromagnetic frequency technology. Human civilization would be thriving if this technology was developed and accessible to all instead of suppressed. Unfortunately, there are a very small group of malicious reptiles who do not want the world to have access to energy efficient systems. There is an obvious reason why our world economy is greatly dependent on an obsolete form of energy. The suppression of free energy technology is another mechanism designed to control and manipulate the human race.

Another group of resource/life sucking leeches would be a select group of transnational corporations and international financial institutions. The pillage and theft committed daily by NGOs on our planet is facilitated by arbitrary undemocratic international clubs, such as the WTO (World Trade Organization), IMF (International Monetary Fund), and WBG (World Bank Group). These clubs, without the consent of the governed populations, directly dictate the economic, financial, and social policies of member countries.

As documented in literature multiple times, the bare illegitimacy of international organizations like the WTO, WBG, and IMF, is that the policies conjured by the few literally dictates the lives of billions of humans. Countries cannot claim to be sovereign if their domestic policies on foreign trade, fiscal budgets, and labor laws are written by foreign bureaucrats and lawyers.

Of course this is all justified under the pretenses of an “integrating international economy”. What the establishment, corporate mainstream media, and classroom school textbooks fail to analyze is how “globalization” has facilitated the destruction of world ecosystems, utilization of child labor, privatization of national industries, sweatshops, unsustainable wages, removal of government authority in the economy, and private control over fresh water resources. There are entire resource rich regions in this world where the people should be prosperous, but instead the majority of humans live in abject poverty. The unrestrained nefarious avarice of the few has prompted governments and industries to violate basic human, labor, and ecological morals.

Another note worthy and anti-human industry is the financing of military conflicts. The majority of the 20th and 21st century's wars, including both World Wars, were intentional. War is common tactic our tyrannical oppressors utilize in order to continually divide our species against each other. Currently, our generation is witnessing the mutual relationship between private industry and the United States defense department. This relationship has bred a despised and ugly hydra known as the military-industrial complex. This hydra, although international in scope, is sometimes proudly draped with the American flag. Many of the defense department's business partners have a vested interest in maintaining a perpetual state of war. The corporate United States, the Central Intelligence Agency, and the rest of their criminal entourage, in the vain name of democracy, have installed authoritarian regimes in multiple regions around the world. Military campaigns, executed with the ideology of patriotism, have left and continue to leave countries and societies destroyed. Examples of this can be found in any real historical education.

When you follow the yellow brick road, you may or may not be surprised to observe that the private banks control the issuing and supply of currencies. These banks are the same banks that riddle countries and people with monumental debt so that their victims are forever forced to undergo “austerity” measures. This criminal cartel of banks will also include the multinational private equity groups, investment firms, and wealth management corporations. These institutions are responsible for funneling a great deal of wealth into the stocks and shares of anti-human corporations and agendas.

This cabal attempts to control sovereign governments through loaning them compounded interest bearing loans that are designed to be impossible to redeem. They then control the international financial organizations that lend the money to the governments. They control the interest and loan rates, and therefore control the amount of money in circulation, thereby stimulating recessions and depressions. Finally, they are the ones who draft the fascist and neo-liberal economic restructuring policies (Ex: Structural Adjustment Programs (SAPs) and Heavily-Indebted Relief Measures) that erode the sovereignty of countries and humans. In bitter reality, the banks exert tremendous influence over those whom depend on their unsustainable services.

The puppets and henchmen that compose the social elitist class are in service of occult and esoteric entities. Needless to say, these clandestine energies are quite malevolent, and do not act in complete secrecy. Their evil is intentional, and they make this quite clear. They want the human race constantly confused and uncertain, starved of nutrition and information, and in a perpetual state of fear. Their agenda includes but is not limited to, trans-humanism, the depopulation of the human species, and a formation of a one world totalitarian state. A world where one cannot live without a job or money, a world where private consolidated interests are the rulers of the state, a world where there is no freedom of speech or political dissent. For further details of what this New World Order fascist police state would like, I would recommend reading the well known science fiction novel 1984 by George Orwell. This agenda is currently being executed by public officials with or without their awareness. On a planetary level, at the current rate of things, my generation will have no planet to inherit. The human race is facing enemies that viciously want to destroy our humanity.

Unfortunately, there are many humans who have lived decades under the existing control structures. Many of our peers within this civilization are molded around the illusion that these problems either do not really exist, or we as people can do very little to solve them. Fortunately that is far from the case. We humans have the power to create. We have the power to manifest our reality through our collective intent. The problem is that, we as people, have been routinely deceived and misguided.

The truth will literally set you free. Education is the key to unlocking the shackles of our enslavement. The first step to solving any problem is knowing what the problem is, and from that point a solution can be conceived. Reading and research. Talking and communication. Education and organization. These are the first steps to our collective freedom.

The second step to solving these challenges is to peacefully separate ourselves from the existing system. We as individuals and as a collective society need to stop giving our energy and time to the existing structures. In order to accomplish this we need to form a legitimate, sovereign, representative, human centralized system of organization. We must unite under common political objectives and human values in order to immediately develop and implement ecological and economically sustainable concepts.

The development of a one world democratic republic is essential to restoring a sustainable world. Through a common political objective will we humans be able to solve the world's problems united. This is all very achievable and realistic on a planetary level.

Always should we remember that a legitimate government is really just legitimate management, and should always derive it's authority from the consent of the governed. A human based government should by no means ever exist to control and oppress their constituents.

The second part of this book will contain the Terran Society Constitution. The Terran Society Constitution is a proposed model of government and a declaration of universal human rights. This model of government is structured as a democratic republic, and is divided into planetary and regional tiers. Each branch of government will have defined functions. This paradigm of government is based on the following concepts.

A brief look into our shared human history will show colossal achievements of life, liberty, and the universal pursuit of happiness.

Humans have risen up against tyranny and oppression before. No achievement is impossible. We as humans have the present potential to create a one world government that is based upon the ideas of representative democracy and individual rights. The organization and implementation of a world democratic sovereign government is imperative if we the human being intend to overcome the pressing challenges of today.

However, the design and implementation of a one world sovereign organization must be done correctly. The current one world order plan pushed by the United Nation is what you would call an anti-human agenda. Agenda 21, or the “Sustainable Development Agenda”, is a prime example of how anti-human the United Nations really is. The United Nations is undemocratic in representation, and has repeatedly endorsed the genocide of the human race. This depopulation is silently being propelled through poisonous foods, destructive resource extraction, destruction of our biosphere, the artificial increasing costs of living, toxic vaccines, suppression of information and technology, artificial weather modification, and artificially engineered wars. I personally believe that no amount of reform would ever expunge the United Nations and their affiliates from their crimes.

Through our individual and collective separation of the current system will we finally be able to create a world based on the common principals of life, liberty, and humanity. The resources exist. There are billions of skilled humans of all categories who are misused, unemployed, and disenfranchised, but their talents beneficial to themselves and human society. Every human has the ability to manifest her or his reality. Anything is achievable through the positive collective intent of our people. As for my generation, the near future will be desolate if we do not decide to act.

In order to survive in this world, we the human race must become educated about the reality of our challenges. I authored this book in order to provide a comprehensive academic analysis on the challenges we must overcome, and to offer proposed solutions to these problems. The challenges presented in this writing will include the modern diet, the medical establishment, the corporate empire, the monetary system, and high volume hydraulic fracturing.

If you read this book, and you were completely unaware of these challenges, I urge you not to be weighted with despair and fear. We, the human race, will overcome these adversities.

The majority of supermarkets and grocery stores within the United States will contain ingredients that are neurologically-toxic, genetically modified, and sourced from antibiotic saturated factory farms. Aside from all of this, the FDA and EPA also approve the massive use of pesticides and chemicals in agriculture, fluoride in public water systems, growth hormones in livestock and aquaculture, and the use of endocrine disrupting chemicals (like bisphenol-A) in food grade storage containers. Let's break this down:

The carbonated water used in soft drinks and food processing, unless verified otherwise, is most likely fluoridated. Fluoride consumption is responsible for a wide range of health complications, including reproductive interference and chronic brain damage. (7)(30)(32)

The corn, canola, soy, cotton, and beet sugar based ingredients, unless verified otherwise, are genetically modified. There is ample scientific and medical evidence detailing the adverse health effects caused by genetically engineered foods. (60)(61)

The milk based ingredient's may likely, unless verified otherwise, contain milk derived from cows treated with artificial growth hormones (like rBGH ) and antibiotics. The abundant use of artificial and genetically modified growth hormones in the American dairy industry have been linked to the development of cancers and other health ailments. (52)(53)(56)(57)

I will not elaborate on the artificial coloring or preservatives, but I assure you they should not be included in a healthy diet.

The mono-sodium glutamate (MSG), aspartame, sodium caseinate, and modified starches are all substances that stimulate brain cells to death. (2)(3)(4)(10)

Even the food grade plastic and metal containers are toxic because they are coated with an endocrine disrupting and carcinogenic chemical known as bisphenol-A (BPA). (20)(23)(24)

Safe to say that the majority of ingredients used to make these products are not safe for human consumption.

Excitotoxins

Food additives that are extensively toxic to the human nervous system are very prevalent within the majority of American processed foods. Within this section, the two commonly known excitotoxins, monosodium glutamate and aspartame, will be discussed.

Monosodium glutamate (MSG) is the sodium salt of the amino acid glutamic acid. The neurotransmitter glutamate is the ionic form of glutamic acid. In human neurological bio-chemistry, a proper balance between glutamate and glutamic acid is essential for healthy neurological performance. The chronic addition of free glutamate in the diet, develops an unbalanced level of neurotransmitters and amino acids within the body. ("Questions and Answers on Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)." 2012) ("Monosodium Glutamate Toxic Effects and Their Implications for Human Intake: A Review" 2013)

Glutamate and gamma-amino butyric acid (GABA) are amino acids naturally produced by the body, and are necessary for brain cell metabolism and function. Glutamate is defined as an excitatory neurotransmitter, and is responsible for causing brain cells to signal and communicate. GABA is defined as an inhibitory neurotransmitter, and is responsible for stopping the signaling of brain cells caused by glutamate. When a chronic rate of glutamate is introduced into the body through the digestive tract, the excess levels creates an unbalance of glutamate and GABA within the nervous system. ("Relationships between Glutamine, Glutamate, and GABA in Nerve Endings under Pb-toxicity Conditions." 2004)

[Page 1] Glutamate is one of the more commonly known excitotoxins. MSG is the sodium salt of glutamate. This amino acid is a normal neurotransmitter in the brain. In fact, it is the most commonly used neurotransmitter by the brain. Defenders of MSG and aspartame use, usually say: How could a substance that is used normally by the brain cause harm? This is because, glutamate, as a neurotransmitter, exists in the extracellular fluid only in very, very small concentrations - no more than 8 to 12 uM [micrometers]. When the concentration of this transmitter rises above this level the neurons begin to fire abnormally. At higher concentrations, the cells undergo a specialized process of delayed cell death known as excitotoxicity, that is, they are excited to death.” (Blaylock, Russell L. The use of MSG as a flavor enhancer has dramatically increased decade after decade since MSG's introduction to the market in 1948. MSG was widely assumed to be safe since glutamate is a neurotransmitter naturally produced by the body. Processed food manufacturers use MSG and other neurologically toxic chemicals to stimulate taste buds in conjunction with poor quality ingredients.

The first reported health risks associated with MSG consumption was in 1957. By 1969, Dr. John Olney recorded the effects of MSG on experimental lab rodents. His study was conducted at the Washington University's Department of Psychiatry located in St. Louis, Louisiana. In his observations he recorded that mice exposed to MSG suffered from acute neuronal necrosis (brain cell death). The adult mice in multiple cases developed obesity, female sterility, hypothalamus damage, and interference with skeletal growth. Since then, multiple in vitro (test tube experiments) and animal studies have been documented further supporting the grave findings of Dr. Olney's experiment. (Olney, John W. [Page 2] Early on it was observed that when neurons in vitro were exposed to glutamate and then washed clean, the cells appeared perfectly normal for approximately an hour, at which time they rapidly underwent cell death. It was discovered that when calcium was removed from the medium, the cells continued to survive. Subsequent studies have shown that glutamate, and other excitatory amino acids, attach to a specialized family of receptors (NMDA, kainate, AMPA and metabotrophic) which in turn, either directly or indirectly, opens the calcium channel on the neuron cell membrane, allowing calcium to flood into the cell. If unchecked, this calcium will trigger a cascade of reactions, including free radical generation, eicosanoid production, and lipid peroxidation, which will destroy the cell. With this calcium triggered stimulation, the neuron becomes very excited, firing its impulses repetitively until the point of cell death, hence the name excitotoxin. The activation of the calcium channel via the NMDA type receptors also involves other membrane receptors such as the zinc, magnesium, phencyclidine, and glycine receptors.(Blaylock, Russell L. The short term toxicity of MSG consumption and exposure observed in experimental rodent tests revealed that MSG caused epileptic seizures, central nervous system impairment, and eye cell damage. (7)(8)(9) Long term effects of chronic MSG consumption have been observed to cause the onset of obesity, increased insulin secretion, inhibition of the endocrine system, and the unbalanced proliferation of neurons. The United States Food and Drug Administration considers MSG and other similar food additives to be “generally recognized as safe”. ("Questions and Answers on Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)." 2012)

MSG and other brain cell killing ingredients will include, but are not limited to: aspartame, L-cysteine, sodium caseinate, modified food starch, autolyzed yeast, hydrolyzed proteins, vegetable proteins, natural flavoring, and soy protein extract. Every single one of these chemicals have been linked to the development of severe chronic neurological damage. These chemicals are either accelerating or directly causing illnesses like multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (A.K.A Lou Gehrig's disease), memory loss, endocrine system complications, hearing loss, epilepsy, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, hypoglycemia, dementia, brain lesions, and neuro-endocrine disorders. Over a period of ten to twenty years, chronic consumption of these chemicals can result in over 75% of brain cell death before clinical symptoms become apparent. Another controversial toxin considered safe by the FDA is aspartame. Aspartame is 200 times sweeter than sugar, and the most notorious artificial sweetener used today. Other artificial sweeteners like Acesulfame Potassium and saccharin were originally marketed to diabetic patients and consumers who could not tolerate sugar in their diets. Today these chemicals are marketed as general purpose sweetener, and integrated into zero calorie and low sugar food products.

Aspartame was originally developed by the pharmaceutical company G.D Searle, which was later acquired by another callous company known as Monsanto in 1985. The fraud surrounding the FDA's approval of aspartame is damn treasonous, especially after the FDA originally prevented aspartame on the market in 1975. Aspartame was re-approved for use in dry foods in 1981. By 1983 aspartame was approved for use in soft drinks, and by 1996 aspartame was approved for use as a general purpose sweetener.

Aspartame is the chemical combination of phenylalanine, aspartic acid, and diketopiperazine (converts to methanol), and begins to break back down after temperatures exceed 85 degrees Fahrenheit (29 degrees Celsius). The human internal temperature is approximately 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit (37 degrees Celsius), which means after consumption, aspartame breaks down into it's original three components. The FDA's acceptable daily intake of aspartame is considered to be 50 milligrams per kilogram per body weight per day (mg/kg bw/d). Aspartame's toxicity should be well known around the scientific community by now since research exposing aspartame has been documented for several decades. Aspartame consumption has been linked to cause and/or accelerate a number of mild and severe health issues. Some of these health issues will include, but are probably not limited to headaches, dizziness, mood swings, vomiting, nausea, memory loss, leukemia, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, seizures, malignant tumors, numbness, kidney failure, multiple sclerosis, and diabetes. Research and studies on aspartame's toxicity to humans can be easily accessed online, and have been published in multiple notable scientific and medical journals. (Blaylock, Russell L. According to multiple studies, aspartame has been observed to interfere with the function of the astroctyes. Astrocytes are specialized neuroglial cells that maintain a number of complex central nervous system functions (CNS). One of their functions is the regulation and release of molecules that stimulate the production of neurotransmitters like glutamate, purines, and GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid). Neurotransmitters are essential for the maintenance and formation of synapses between nerve cells. Synapses are the structures that facilitate communication between the neurons. ("Astrocytes: Biology and Pathology" 2010) .

[Abstract]“...The artificial sweetener is broken down into phenylalanine (50%), aspartic acid (40%) and methanol (10%) during metabolism in the body. The excess of phenylalanine blocks the transport of important amino acids to the brain contributing to reduced levels of dopamine and serotonin. Astrocytes directly affect the transport of this amino acid and also indirectly by modulation of carriers in the endothelium. Aspartic acid at high concentrations is a toxin that causes hyperexcitability of neurons and is also a precursor of other excitatory amino acid - glutamates. Their excess in quantity and lack of astrocytic uptake induces excitotoxicity and leads to the degeneration of astrocytes and neurons. The methanol metabolites cause CNS depression, vision disorders and other symptoms leading ultimately to metabolic acidosis and coma. Astrocytes do not play a significant role in methanol poisoning due to a permanent consumption of large amounts of aspartame. Despite intense speculations about the carcinogenicity of aspartame, the latest studies show that its metabolite - diketopiperazine - is carcinogenic in the CNS. Phenylalanine is a naturally occurring amino acid that is able to cross the blood brain barrier. All amino acids in the central nervous system are transported by neutral amino acid transporters, which are regulated by astrocytes. Chronic aspartame consumption leads to a higher concentration of phenylalanine in the nervous system. This unbalance disrupts the processes of other amino acids, thus interfering with astrocytes and other biological functions. Amino acids in the brain are critical for maintaining essential CNS functions. Aspartic acid, or aspartate, is a nonessential amino acid responsible for the impulses between nerve cells through the formation of other amino acids like glutamate. The more aspartate in the brain, the more glutamate there is. Too much glutamate results in the nerve cells to fire too many impulses, which leads to their self-destruction. The diketopiperazine breaks down into methanol at pH levels above six, and is considered highly carcinogenic. ("Effects of Aspartame Metabolites on Astrocytes and Neurons" 2013).

A study published in the Clinical Journal of American Society and Nephrology concluded that artificially sweetened soft drinks led to a 2-fold increased probability of kidney dysfunction. Over three thousand women volunteers participated in the study, and were surveyed on their rate of soft drink consumption over a period of 11 years. The results of the study indicated that the consumption of more than two servings per day of an artificially sweetened soft drink led to a 2-fold increased chance of kidney complications. The participants who consumed more than two artificially sweetened drinks per day had a glomerular filtration rate decline of more than 30%. The glomerular filtration rate is a test used to observe the rate of blood circulation through the glomeruli of the kidneys. The glomeruli are the cells responsible for filtering waste from the blood. This evidence is also further supported by animal studies linking aspartame ingestion to kidney failure. Two studies were conducted by the Cesare Maltoni Cancer Research Center of the European Ramazzini Foundation. The first study, titled the "Long-Term Carcinogenicity Bioassays to Evaluate the Potential Biological Effects, in Particular Carcinogenic, of Aspartame Administered in Feed to Sprague-Dawley Rats," was submitted to the FDA in 2006. In 2007 the FDA announced that the research of the first study was inconclusive, citing that the findings of the data were “incidental”.

Based on our review, pathological changes were incidental and appeared spontaneously in the study animals, and none of the histopathological changes reported appear to be related to treatment with aspartame.” ("FDA Statement on European Aspartame Study." A second study provided further evidence of their findings. The second study observed the carcinogenic properties of aspartame with the Sprague-Dawley rat. The study observed the effects of aspartame administered to the rats, at rates of 2000, 400, and 0 parts per million. The groups exposed to higher concentrations had a higher rate of developing malignant tumors within their lifespans. The study concluded that at dose levels considered safe for humans, aspartame is likely to cause the development of malignant tumors. An animal study published by the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition concluded that aspartame caused interference with human biological processes, including metabolism, nervous system functions and hormone regulation.

Excitotoxins[Conclusion] “It was seen that aspartame disturbs amino acid metabolism, protein structure and metabolism, integrity of nucleic acids, neuronal function, endocrine balances and changes in the brain concentrations of catecholaminesi. It was also reported that aspartame and its breakdown products cause nerves to fire excessively, which indirectly causes a very high rate of neuron depolarization. The energy systems for certain required enzyme reactions become compromised, thus indirectly leading to the inability of enzymes to function optimally. The ATP stores in the cells are depleted, indicating that low concentrations of glucose are present in the cells, and this in turn will indirectly decrease the synthesis of acetylcholine, glutamate and GABA” ... “From all the adverse effects caused by this product, it is suggested that serious further testing and research be undertaken to eliminate any and all controversies surrounding this product (Humphries, P., E. Once again, the findings of this study provides further evidence supporting previous and current research on aspartame's toxicity on the human body. According to the animal study, aspartame interferes with neurotransmitters through disrupting the balance of other amino acids. This in turn inevitably interferes with other nervous system biological functions, like synapses and hormone regulation. The aspartic acid creates an environment where there is an excess amount of glutamate. Excess glutamate levels increase the rate of nerve cell impulses, which stimulates the nerve cells to death. All three main components of the artificial sweetener aspartame are, beyond any rational doubt, toxic to humans.

Bisphenol-A (BPA)

Bisphenol A is an endocrine disruptor - a substance which interferes with the production, secretion, transport, action, function and elimination of natural hormones. BPA can imitate our body's own hormones in a way that could be hazardous for health. Babies and young children are said to be especially sensitive to the effects of BPA. Although public authorities set BPA safety levels, many experts believe these levels should be reviewed after a number of recent studies were published. The Endocrine Society, USA, in 2009 expressed concern in a public statement over current human exposure to BPA.” (Norqvist, Christian. "What Is BPA (bisphenol A)? Is BPA Harmful?" Medical News Today. BPA was initially synthesized as a birth control chemical for women. BPA is now used to harden plastics, make plastic shiny, and coat the inside lining of metal cans in the form of resin. This resin is added in order to separate contact between metal containers and food products. BPA has been and is still used to produce electronic equipment, sports gear, thermal receipt paper, dental fillings, food containers, water bottles, infant bottles, compact discs, and medical devices. BPA exposure can result through ingestion or contact through the skin. ("What Is BPA (bisphenol A)? Is BPA Harmful?" 2014).

According to statistics by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, approximately 93% of American adults surveyed tested positive for BPA residue in their urine and blood. There are multiple studies documenting a correlation between BPA exposure and endocrine system complications. ("Bisphenol A (BPA)." 2016)

The human endocrine system is composed of the pituitary gland, pineal gland, hypothalamus, parathyroid gland, thymus, kidneys, thyroid gland, parathyroid glands, adrenal glands, pancreas, ovaries (females), and testes (males). These glands are responsible for adjusting and regulating the amount of hormones in the blood, which are essential for biological functions like reproduction, sleep, mood, sexual function, metabolism, growth, and organ function. BPA is classified as an endocrine disrupting chemical, and in minute quantities BPA mimics the female sex hormone estradiol. Estradiol (E2) is the dominant hormone in estrogen, and directly affects sexual function and development in both sexes.("Estradiol (Hormone)." 2014) Multiple studies regarding BPA exposure have been linked to the potential development of infertility, erectile dysfunction, asthma, type 2 diabetes, breast cancer, heart disease, impaired brain function, and the disruption of egg maturation. ("Bisphenol A: An Endocrine Disruptor with Widespread Exposure and Multiple Effects" 2011).

According to the World Health Organization, over 154 million people suffer from type 2 diabetes. Medical researchers have hypothesized whether or not BPA exposure could be a responsible contributing factor to the alarming rate of international type 2 diabetes. Diabetes mellitus is a common endocrine disease, however it is not necessarily a single disease but group of disorders associated with glucose intolerance. During the digestive process, carbohydrates break down into glucose, and insulin allows our cells to absorb and use glucose for energy. Type one diabetes is when specialized cells within the pancreas cannot produce insulin, while type two diabetes is when the body become less responsive to insulin. Heart disease, kidney failure, blindness, and nerve damage are all health complications due to type 2 diabetes. ("Exploring the Roots of Diabetes: Bisphenol A May Promote Insulin Resistance" 2006).

A team of Spanish and Mexican researchers report discovering that the endocrine-disrupting chemical bisphenol A (BPA) causes insulin resistance in mice similar to that seen just before the onset of type 2 diabetes... The researchers tested BPA’s effect on glucose regulation by measuring glucose and insulin levels in adult male mice treated with BPA injections, then comparing them with levels in mice treated with E2 and a control group treated with corn oil. BPA caused oversecretion of insulin in mice at a dose of 10 micrograms per kilogram body weight per day (μg/kg/day) via a rapid mechanism, taking only 15 to 30 minutes. Treatment over a course of four days with 100 μg/kg/day induced the insulin resistance that precedes type 2 diabetes. E2 had the same effects at the same doses. From this animal study, researchers can conclude that abnormal increased levels of estradiol and BPA result in the over production of insulin. What is most intriguing is that the over production of insulin initialized after exposure of only 10 μg/kg/day BPA. Meanwhile according to the FDA exposure of up to 5000 μg/kg/day (5 mg/kg bw/day) is safe for humans.

The 2014 hazard assessment by the FDA’s BPA Joint Emerging Science Working Group reconfirms the previously identified NOAEL [no observable adverse effect level] of 5 mg/kg bw/day for systemic toxicity from subchronic/multigenerational studies using rodents as the most appropriate NOAEL for a safety assessment of oral or dietary exposures.” (Aungst, Jason. A study published in PLOS ONE recorded the results of female pregnant rhesus macaque rats exposed to varying levels of BPA. The study was trying to determine the effect BPA would pose on fetal uterus development. The rhesus macaque rodent (Macaca mulatta) reproductive and physiological system's are very similar with humans. The results of the study displayed evidence of BPA interfering with genes that are responsible for reproductive development in humans. The study concluded that the evidence provided may lead to the later development of complications with reproductive systems.

The evidence of this study may suggest that BPA is a significant contributing factor to human infertility. Understanding the effects of BPA on the human genetic structure is important in determining the long term effects BPA exposure will have on future human reproductive capabilities.

Another study, published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, researched the relationship between BPA and female infertility. Consistent BPA exposure in animal test subjects at levels considered safe for humans caused interference with the hypothalamus, pituitary, and ovary glands. These glands within the endocrine system are critical for maintaining reproductive health and balanced hormone levels.

The hypothalamus regulates the physiological functions that include temperature regulation, hunger, thirst, mood, sleep, and sex. The hypothalamus is responsible for releasing dopamine and somatostatin, as well as releasing hormones that stimulate the release of thyrotropin and gonadotropin, and corticotrophin. The pituitary gland is located just below the hypothalamus. The pituitary gland is divided into three regions, each with distinct functions. The anterior lobe is responsible for sexual development. The intermediate lobe stimulates the release of melanin, which is responsible for skin pigmentation. The posterior lobe produces hormones that reclaim water and prevent dehydration. The pituitary gland is also responsible for maintaining hormones that regulate female milk production and uterine contractions. The ovary gland produces the ova, or female reproductive cell. The corpus luteum within the ovaries are responsible for the secretion of estrogen and progesterone. Both of these hormones are crucial for human reproduction.

(Page 11,103) “BPA may cause developmental and/or functional defects of the hypothalamic system, which could result in inability to achieve the reproductive capacity at puberty and maintain it during adulthood [32,33]. It was confirmed that irreversible alteration in hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis caused by exposure to 500 μg/kg/day BPA in rats can lead to anovulation and infertility [34]. The underlying mechanism may involve the production of kisspeptin, a driving signal of gonadotropin release hormone (GnRH) secretion [35,36].”

(Page 11,104) “BPA could directly affect the gonadotropin synthesis. Brannick et al. [40] found that mice administered with 50 ug/kg/day of BPA had decreased levels of gonadotropin mRNA, Gnrhr and Nr5a1, key components of gonadotropin synthesis. Gnrhr is essential for signal transduction between the pituitary and the hypothalamus [41].”

(Page 11,104) “Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)1 is the most common endocrinopathy of women of reproductive age. Its cardinal features are hyperandrogenismii, insulin resistance and chronic anovulationiii [46]. The distinctive clinical features are hirsutism, menstrual disfunction and infertility [47]. Its etiology is not yet clear. Both human [48,49] and animal studies [34] have suggested a possible role of BPA in PCOS aetiopathogenesisiv. Recently, it was shown that women with PCOS had a significantly higher BPA level than women without PCOS [48,49]. Meanwhile, the EPA and FDA still considers BPA to be safe for children and adults. This can be described as state tolerated chemical castration. The continuing information being published correlating low level BPA exposure to health and hormonal complications cannot be ignored. The manipulation of our hormone levels and reproductive gene expression will harm our children, and future children. The unrestricted rampant pollution of BPA in our environments and diets is threatening our ability to naturally reproduce.

BPA has also been documented to disrupt the ecology of marine life, as well as disrupt soil nitrogen intake by plants. BPA is just one of the many chemicals leeched from plastics and other industrial pollutants. The massive pollution of plastic based chemicals and industrial toxins in the world's oceans, like the Pacific Garbage Patch, has resulted in the large release of BPA and other toxic chemical within our biosphere. This massive scale of pollution threatens the survival and biodiversity of interdependent ocean ecosystem. The death of the world's ocean will inevitably cause a massive impact to the economies of coastal populations and world food supplies. Eventually the BPA leeched into our shared environment will circulate back into our bodies through our diet. ("The Environmental Toll of Plastics." 2009)("Plastic Debris in the Open Ocean." 2014).

Despite the fact that a significant percentage of the world population, is exposed to BPA, the exposure rates are reversible. According to a study conducted by the Silent Spring Institute, the ceasing of BPA lined packaging combined with a whole foods diet can cut BPA levels by 60% in three days. ("Food Packaging and Bisphenol A and Bis(2-Ethyhexyl) Phthalate Exposure: Findings from a Dietary Intervention." 2011)

To avoid BPA, researchers have suggested that individuals should cease using plastics marked with “PC” or recycling label #7, and cease the use of canned foods. On a positive note, Connecticut, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington, Wisconsin, and Vermont have passed legislation prohibiting the sale of certain products that contain BPA based resins. Eventually these companies evolved into today's petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology companies. The gradual chemical lobotomy occurring with our children and peers is due to the fluoridation of municipal public water supplies.

Fluoride is the negative ion of the naturally occurring element fluorine. Fluoride is present as a compound, like in sodium fluoride or calcium fluoride. It is important to note that fluoride is not defined as a nutrient. The fluoride added in the public water supply is in the form of fluorosilic acid. ("Overview." Fluoride Action Network. 2016)

The introduction of fluoride in the public drinking water began in the 1945. Since 2008, an estimated 70% of the American population consistently drink fluoridated water. The CDC states that water at 0.7 part per million is safe and healthy. The CDC even goes far as to say that “the fluoridation of the public water supply is one of the greatest achievements of 20th century”. ("Overview." Fluoride Action Network. 2016)("Community Water Fluoridation." 2015).

The real absurdity in regards to medicating the public water supply with fluoride is that ingesting fluoride provides no positive dental effects. The American Dental Association claims that through fluoride ingestion, the saliva will contain the needed fluoride levels that prevent tooth decay. Initially when fluoride was introduced, the premise was based on the assumption that childhood ingestion of fluoride would strengthen permanent teeth. Towards the end of the 20th century, the fraudulent science behind state sponsored fluoridation has become slowly revealed. ("Topical vs. Systemic Effects." Fluoride Action Network. 2016)

What the CDC failed to mention is that tooth decay rates have “precipitously declined” in all western countries, irrespective of whether the country ever fluoridated its water. Indeed, most western countries do not fluoridate their water and yet their tooth decay rates have declined at the same rate as the U.S. and other fluoridated countries. This fact, which is widely acknowledged in the dental literature, can be quickly demonstrated by examining the World Health Organization’s (WHO) data on tooth decay trends in each country.” ("Topical vs. Systemic Effects." Fluoride Action Network. 2016).

The American Dental Association and World Health Organization continue to promote fluoride as a tool to help prevent tooth decay. ("Fluoridated Water." 2016)

But even the WHO will admit that fluoride exposure leads to dental fluorosis. According to the WHO:

Fluoride has both beneficial and detrimental effects on human health. In terms of dental health, the prevalence of dental caries is inversely related to the concentration of fluoride in drinking water; while there is a dose-response relationship between the concentration of fluoride in drinking water and the prevalence of dental fluorosis.("Fluoride. WHO" 2016).

Contrary to what the WHO, ADA, and CDC believe, the National Research Council, Fluoride Action Network, and multiple other researchers, have presented consistent evidence regarding the negative health impacts associated with fluoride consumption. Multiple human studies and animal experiments published in notable scientific and medical journals have proven, beyond any reasonable doubt, that consistent fluoride ingestion, at level considered safe, is responsible for a wide variety of health complications. Besides the dental fluorosis, other documented health issues have included arthritis, bone fractures, brain damage, cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, endocrine disruption, gastrointestinal disruption, hypersensitivity, kidney disease, disruption of glucose metabolism, male infertility, calcification of the pineal gland, skeletal fluorosis, and thyroid disease. Even the FDA has had to require toothpaste manufacturers to label a warning against the over consumption of fluoride toothpaste. (''Health Effects" 2016).

Dr. William Hizry on June 29th, 2000, was invited to testify before the United States Wildlife, Fishery, and Drink Water subcommittee. In his report he cited multiple references to fluoride's toxicity, including carcinogenic properties, brain damage, environmental pollution, and dental fluorosis. The report included several recommendations suggested to the EPA and federal government.

We believe that EPA staff and managers should be called to testify, along with members of the 1983 Surgeon Generals panel and officials of the Department of Human Services, to explain how the original recommendations of the Surgeon Generals panel (16) were altered to allow EPA to set otherwise unjustifiable drinking water standards for fluoride... In 1998, the results of a fifty-year fluoridation experiment involving Kingston, New York (un-fluoridated) and Newburg, New York (fluoridated) were published (17). In summary, there is no overall significant difference in rates of dental decay in children in the two cities, but children in the fluoridated city show significantly higher rates of dental fluorosis than children in the un-fluoridated city.” (Hirzy, William. According to a study conducted by the British Fluoridation Society, approximately 5% of the world population drinks fluoridated water.

Argentina (19%), Guatemala (13%), Panama (15%), Papa New Guinea (6%), Peru (2%), Serbia (3%), Spain (11%), South Korea (6%), the United Kingdom (11%), and Vietnam (4%), Australia (80%), Brunei (95%); Chile (70%), Guyana (62%), Hong Kong (100%), the Irish Republic (73%), Israel (70%), Malaysia (75%), New Zealand (62%), Singapore (100%), and the United States (64%).” ("Countries That Fluoridate Their Water." 2012)("The Extent of Water Fluoridation." 2012).

Health complications from chronic fluoride exposure include but are not limited to the following.

The Pineal Gland

Located in the diencephalon of the brain, the pineal gland is responsible for a number of essential functions, including the regulation of hormone levels, maintenance of the circadian rhythm, communication between nervous and endocrine systems, and the secretion of melatonin. ("pineal gland". 2016)

According to the research of Jennifer Luke, the pineal gland is vulnerable to the gradual accumulation of fluoride particles, eventually leading to the calcification of the pineal gland. The disruption of the pineal gland leads to the interference of important biological functions which can then lead to chronic health complications. ("Fluoride Deposition in the Aged Human Pineal Gland" 2001)(''The Effect of Fluoride on the Physiology of the Pineal Gland'' 1997).

[Discussion] “Unlike brain capillaries, pineal capillaries allow the free passage of fluoride through the endothelium. If there had been a bloodbrain barrier in the pineal, it would have prevented the passage of fluoride into the pinealocytes and the pineal fluoride content would have been similar to or lower than muscle. This was obviously not the case: the fluoride concentration of the pineal was significantly higher (p<0.001) than muscle. The high fluoride levels in the pineal are presumably due to the large surface area of the HA crystallites both intra- and extracellularly. In addition, the pineal has a profuse blood flow and high capillary density; pineal blood flow (4 ml/min/g) is second only to the kidney [Arendt, 19951.]” (Luke, Jennifer. Now according to the American Dental Association, there is just not enough evidence to conclude that chronic fluoride ingestion calcifies the pineal gland. The ADA and their affiliates claim that there is no major epidemiological difference between those who drink fluoridated water and those who do not. The ADA goes as far as to say that the accumulation of calcium particles in the pineal gland is a normal process of human aging. (''Fluoridation Facts'' American Dental Association. 2005)

Even when the evidence is documented and presented, the dogma that is miserably supported by the medical establishment is still considered correct.

Male Infertility

There are over sixty studies alone on the relationship between fluoride and male reproductive health. Decreased testosterone levels, reduced sperm motility, altered sperm morphology, reduced sperm count, and infertility are the recorded effects of fluoride exposure within our environment. An animal study, published in the Archives of Toxicology, determined the effects of sodium fluoride (NaF) on the adult male Kunming mice. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are molecules and ions of oxygen with one or more unpaired electrons. ROS are the natural byproduct from cellular respiration. At elevated levels, ROS can induce genetic cellular damage through inhibiting the expression of certain genes. Examples of ROS will include superoxide, hydroxyl radicals, and hydrogen peroxide. In this study, mice exposed to fluoride had increased levels of ROS, causing major interference with male sperm cell function.

[Abstract] “Exposure to fluoride can induce low sperm quality; however, little is known about the molecular mechanisms by which fluoride exerts its toxic effects. This study was conducted to evaluate ultrastructure, oxidative stress, and apoptosis in sperm of mice treated with 150 mg/l NaF for 49 days. Furthermore, microarray analysis was also utilized to characterize the effects of fluoride in gene expression profiling on mice sperm. An increased ROS and a decreased TAC [total antioxidant capacity] accompanied with distinct morphological changes and significant apoptosis(i) were observed in mice sperm from the fluoride group. Fluoride exposure also significantly elevated the protein expressions of cytochrome c and active caspase-3. In global gene expression profiling, 34 up-regulated and 63 down-regulated genes, which are involved in several sperm biological processes including signal transduction (ii), oxidative stress (iii) , apoptosis, electron transport, glycolysis (iv), chemotaxis (v) , spermatogenesis (vi) , and sperm capacitation (vii) , were significantly differentially expressed.

The results of the study conclude that fluoride increases the level of reactive oxygen species, thus causing oxidative stress within sperm cells. Oxidative stress leads to the impairment of the sperm's mitochondria. The interference of the mitochondria causes the self destruction of the sperm cell. The observations also confirm that fluoride can inhibit the biological functionality of the male reproductive system through interfering with the expression of specific genes. Neurological Health and Development

Over 300 studies have been published associating fluoride with neurological impairment. Literature on the issue has been published in notable scientific peer reviewed journals like the The Lancet, Environmental Health Perspectives, Journal of Molecular Biology, and The Harvard Review.

According to a study published on Environmental Health Perspectives in 2012, fluoride ingestion correlates with cognitive impairment in children. The study was conducted between the Harvard School of Public Health and the China Medical University in Shenyeng. The research amounted to twenty-seven studies in over twenty-two years. Residents within the studied regions in rural China were, in some cases, ingesting well water with fluoride levels above 1 mg/L. The study concluded that regions where children are exposed to fluoridated water scored lower in intelligent quotient and cognitive function tests than those not drinking fluoridated water. [Discussion] “Findings from our meta-analyses of 27 studies published over 22 years suggest an inverse association between high fluoride exposure and children’s intelligence. Children who lived in areas with high fluoride exposure had lower IQ scores than those who lived in low-exposure or control areas. Our findings are consistent with an earlier review (Tang et al. 2008), although ours more systematically addressed study selection and exclusion information, and was more comprehensive in a) including 9 additional studies, b) performing meta-regression to estimate the contribution of study characteristics as sources of heterogeneity, and c) estimating pooled risk ratios for the association between fluoride exposure and a low/marginal Raven’s test score.” (Choi, Anna L., Guifan Sun, Ying Zhang, and Philippe Grandjean. Fluorides toxic effects on the human central nervous system have been recorded for several decades. Fluoride and aluminum both perform similar neurotoxic effects on the nervous system. The chronic consumption of fluoride will eventually bio-accumulate like other metals, and cause extensive damage to cellular functioning. This is achieved through free radical generation, interference with mitochondrial enzymes, interference with glutamate transporters, and the inhibition of antioxidant enzymes. The interference with essential biological and chemical cellular functions induces the excitotoxicity of neurons. ("Excitotoxicity: A Possible Central Mechanism in Fluoride Neurotoxicity." 2004)

Regardless of the FDA, CDC, ADA, WHO and EPA policies, the individual makes the ultimate decision. When enough consumers demand change then change will occur. We can avoid fluoride by filtering our water supply. We can avoid brain damaging chemicals by avoiding harmful ingredients in food products. Purchase organic whole foods (fruits, vegetables, and grains), and shop at local farmer markets to avoid synthetic pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers. We can avoid endocrine disruption chemicals by halting the use of certain packaging materials, thermal papers, and plastics. If possible, grow your own garden and learn how to prepare and cook meals. We can avoid the added chemicals in the public food supply if we are informed. As for our generation and children, we must make the individual and collective decision not to be slowly poisoned.

The Modern Diet
Section 2: Factory Farms

Four companies now control the majority of meat production within the United States through the consolidation of the meat packing, factory farming, and the slaughterhouse industry. These four companies are Tyson Foods, Cargill, JBS, and Smith Fields Foods. These companies own a substantial amount of trademark names, and maintain international markets. These four companies process an estimated 50% of all chickens, 80% of all cows, and 60% of all pigs consumed in the U.S. alone. (“Exporting Factory Farms" 2016).

A Proper balanced diet is the key to maintaining health. The “The China Study”, co-written by Nutritionist T. Colin Campbell and medical doctor Thomas M. Campbell, provides data about the relationship between diet and long-term health. According to the then-groundbreaking research, the healthiest peoples of the world had a diet that consisted of whole plant foods and low or no animal protein, while a diet consisting primarily of animal based protein resulted in a higher rate of health complications such as heart disease, high cholesterol, cancer, diabetes and obesity. Heart disease is one of the leading cause of death in the United States. The research from this study concludes that a plant based diet will prevent heart disease, as well as number of other health complications. (The China Study. 2005).

The main reason is that some multinational agribusiness companies see serious profit in expanding their operations to largely untapped emerging markets. These corporations have already saturated the Western world with their products, so in order to maintain their economic superiority, companies must break into countries where consumer demand for “meat” and animal products is rising, environmental and animal welfare regulations are lax, and labor is enticingly cheap. Namely, established agribusiness giants are actively advancing into Asia and nations in the Global South—threatening to supplant traditional agrarian practices and wreak the very same kind of havoc they have here in the U.S.” (“Exporting Factory Farms” Food Empowerment Project. 2016).

The increased demand for meat has resulted in millions of acres of land used to raise and slaughter livestock. Concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFO) are designed to raise and process animals in the most efficient manner. The extremely tight spaces for livestock are not only inhumane, but create the optimum environment for disease and bacteria to spread. As a result of these unsanitary conditions, animals are constantly fed antibiotics. The frequent use of antibiotics allows for certain bacteria and virus strains to develop a high resistance to antibiotics.

The animals are then injected with a wide arrange of natural and artificial growth hormones. These growth hormones have been linked to an increased risk of developing cancer. The growth hormones are completely unnatural and unnecessary, and are ultimately used to increase production.

Finally, the animals are then killed in slaughterhouses that violate the blatantly disregard the Humane Slaughter Act and basic ethics. As a result of the increased speed of meat processing lines, USDA officials cannot realistically inspect every carcass. The resistant strains of food borne pathogens become a part of the marketed meat supply. (Slaughterhouse. 1997).

Hormones

A well known example of growth hormones is the American dairy industry's use of recombinant bovine growth hormones (rGBH). rGBH was developed by none other than the notorious chemical company Monsanto. rGBH is the genetically engineered version of the natural growth hormone bovine somatotrophin. Monsanto tested thirty rats for a ninety day trial, in which the results of the study were never published however, the FDA still approved rGBH in 1993. rGBH is another example where government agencies have allowed carcinogenic substances and hormones into the public's diet. ("rBGH" 2016).

According to the Institute for Responsible Technology, studies have shown that:

Milk from rBGH-treated cows has much higher levels of IGF-1 [Insulin-like Growth Factor], a hormone considered to be a high risk factor for breast, prostate, colon, lung, and other cancers. IGF-1 levels in milk from treated cows with rBGH can be up to 10 times higher. Studies suggest that pre-menopausal women below 50 years old with high levels of IGF-1 are seven times more likely to develop breast cancer. Men are four times more likely to develop prostate cancer. IGF-1 is implicated in lung and colon cancer.” (“GMOs in Dairy." Institute for Responsible Technology. 2016).

rBGH is not approved in Japan, Australia, Canada, the European Union, and New Zealand. Organizations like the Campaign for Safe Food have campaigned to increase the public's awareness of rBGH in the meat and dairy supply. Unfortunately, rBGH is just one of the multiple natural and artificial growth hormones allowed in American beef production. Other growth hormones will include testosterone, oestradiol, progesterone, zeranol, trenbolone, and melengestrol. ("rBGH." 2016)(“GMOs in Dairy" 2016).("Hormones" 2016).

The potential health complications that arise from the use and consumption of growth hormones in factory farms include increased cancer rates and endocrine disruption. In 1981, the European Food Safety Authority prohibited the use of oestradiol 17ß, testosterone, progesterone, zeranol, trenbolone acetate and melengestrol acetate hormones in livestock farming. In 2007, the EFSA concluded once again that the hormones used in cattle raising are responsibler for the development of hormone-dependent cancers. Antibiotic Saturation

The consistent and unrestrained use of antibiotics in factory farms is responsible for the rapid development of antibiotic resistant pathogens. One in six Americans (or 48 millon) are exposed to a food borne illness each year, and an estimated 3,000 die as a result. According to a 2009 FDA report, 80% of antibiotics sold each year are directly to factory farms. (“Foodborne Germs and Illnesses"2016)(''Summary Report On Antimicrobials Sold or Distributed for Use in Food- Producing Animals'' 2009).

These drugs are often given to animals that are not sick to accelerate weight gain and prevent diseases stemming from poor diets and crowded, stressful and dirty conditions. Approximately 96 percent of the antibiotics sold for animal use are added to feed and water, the preferred way to deliver antibiotics to large flocks or herds of animals at once. This practice is a key contributor to the rise of antibiotic-resistant bacteria – sometimes called “superbugs” – which can escape the farm and spread into communities through air, water, soil, meat, and even workers. Resistant superbugs can make us sick, or pass on resistance to other bacteria which can make us sick.” (Stashwick, S., L. Brook, J. Halloran, M. Bohne, K. Hamerschla, C. Harsh, and S. Roach. The environmental impact from factory farm practices is unbelievable. The fecal waste produced from industrial livestock and poultry rearing contain antibiotics and antibiotic resistant pathogens, and is released into the environment because of poor waste management. In some regions, the manure is stored in large man-made lagoons. These holding areas are designed to break down the manure and develop fertilizer. Unfortunately, some of these holding facilities are prone to leakage through overflow. This overflow is then leeched into the environment through run-off water. Several states have now passed legislation against this form off feeding operation waste disposal. For example, the state of North Carolina passed legislation outlawing the development of waste storage for CAFOs. Prior to this law, several large waste leakages led to the death of millions of fish and shellfish in the local wetlands. As people are infected with foodborne pathogens, the use of antibiotics to treat these pathogens will gradually become ineffective. Multiple recognized health organizations, including the CDC and WHO, admit that antibiotic saturation in factory farms is a contributing to higher rates of antibiotic resistant pathogens. As factory farm livestock are saturated in antibiotics, the potential for “super bugs” has increased. Pathogens genetically resistant to antibiotic applications make treating foodborne illness increasingly difficult. Over time, the saturation of antibiotics entering the food supply will result in detrimental health complications with consumers. Inhumane Slaughter

The USDA's Food Safety Inspection Services (FSIS) is tasked with enforcing the Humane Methods of Slaughter Act (HMSA) of 1978. HMSA only applies to “cows, sheep, swine, and goats”, and does not apply to poultry. According to a report published by the Government Accountability Office, the USDA does not adequately enforce the HMSA in the slaughter houses of the United States. According to the GAO, the FSIS is insufficiently funded, and therefore has difficulty enforcing HMSA.

[Page 6] “In February 2009, we reported that the FSIS veterinarian workforce had decreased by nearly 10 percent since fiscal year 2003 and that the agency had not been fully staffed over the past decade. We reported that, as of fiscal year 2008, FSIS had a 15 percent shortage of veterinarians.” (“Lisa Shames. HUMANE METHODS OF SLAUGHTER ACT Weaknesses in USDA Enforcement.” 2010).

The HMSA requires that livestock be stunned in a manner that results in the animals' inability to feel pain. The lack of enforcement of HMSA has allowed slaughter house facilities to increase line production. The increased speed of processing lines dramatically increases the amount livestock that are conscious through the slaughter process. The livestock have their throats cut while still alive because this is considered to be the most efficient way of bleeding livestock. This process is adopted because the heart is still pumping blood, and thereby increases the efficiency of the bleeding process. It is reasonable to assume that your average objective thinker may infer that this method of bleeding animals alive is (to say the least) inhumane.

The slaughterhouses have become extremely dangerous to operate because of the lack of inspectors and lax enforcement of proper slaughter procedures. There have been numerous documented sources of workplace abuse. The conscious livestock in the butchering process creates an environment where workers are prone to be injured while processing live cattle and pigs. (Slaughterhouse. 1997).

The good news is that there is a continual increase of non-government organizations spreading awareness of animal processing. Some of these organizations, such as the Humane Farm Animal Care, label and verify animal products that have been raised and slaughtered humanely. For individuals who seek to go vegetarian, there are many cookbooks and recipes that are appealing to different tastes. Eventually, when enough individual consumers are aware of the violations in animal processing, then the market will change.

In summary, not only are factory farms unethical and inhumane, they are also an environmental and dietary health issue. The addition of natural and synthetic growth hormones is linked to causing an indirect increase in cancer. The saturation of antibiotics has resulted in the creation of resistant pathogens, making infection treatment increasingly difficult. The USDA has failed their public responsibility to the public through their failure to enforce health and ethical humane standards. The diets of Americans are rigorously and falsely focused on the consumption of high animal protein. The continual deterioration of the American health is the direct result of poor and unbalanced diets. All the more outrageous is that these companies are profiting from their crimes. The way our civilization treats animals reflects the values of our collective culture and society.nvironment where workers are prone to be injured while processing live cattle and pigs. GMOs

With the precautionary principle in mind, because GM [genetically modified] foods have not been properly tested for human consumption, and because there is ample evidence of probable harm, the AAEM [American Academy of Environmental Medicine] asks:

What are GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms)?

GMOs are life forms that have foreign strands of DNA and RNA inserted into their natural gene structure. In agriculture, the three main types of genetically modified commercial crops are designed for herbicide tolerance (HT), insect resistance (IR), and a hybrid combination of both HT and IR. GMOs should not be confused with the concept of natural cross breeding. Cross breeding has existed for several thousand years, while agricultural bio-technology has only been introduced since the late 20th century. ("The GE Process." 2016)("Genetically Modified Foods." 2009).

GMOs were introduced into the American market starting in 1994. The first approved GM plant was Calgene's “FlavrSavr” tomato. The tomato was approved in 1992, but was shortly removed from the market by 1996. Since 1994, GM crops account for the majority of all corn (88%), soybeans (93%), sugar beets (90%), canola (90%), alfalfa (first planted in 2011), Hawaiian Papaya (75%), and cotton (94%), produced within the United States. ("Which Foods Might Contain GMOs?" 2016).

Genetically Engineered seeds threatens the genetic biodiversity of regional ecosystems through cross contamination with natural plants. This becomes a severe problem for farmers not growing GM seeds. Since the majority of corn and soy are GM within a geographical region, the small fraction not GM are prone to becoming contaminated. The contamination of GM foods also occurs with livestock rearing due to the GM feed given to the majority factory farms. (Genetic Roulette: The Gamble of Our Lives. 2012).

Common ingredients derived from GMO risk crops: Amino acids, aspartame, ascorbic acid, sodium ascorbate, vitamin C, citric acid, sodium citrate, ethanol, flavorings (“natural” and “artificial”), high-fructose corn syrup, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, lactic acid, maltodextrins, molasses, monosodium glutamate, sucrose, textured vegetable protein (TVP), xanthan gum, vitamins, yeast products.” ("Which Foods Might Contain GMOs?" The NonGMO Project. 2016).

According to the International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-Biotech Applications, an estimated 175.2 million hectares (433 million acres) of farmland were planted with GE crops in 2013. The United States (70.1 million hectares, 40%), Brazil (40.3 million hectares, 23%), Argentina (24.4 million hectares, 14%), India (11 million hectares, 6%), Canada (10.8 million hectares, 6%), and China (4.2 million hectares, 2%), are the leading growers of GM crops. Since 2013, the countries of Paraguay, South Africa, Pakistan, Uruguay, Bolivia, Phillipines, Australia, Burkina Faso, Myanmar, Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Sudan, Chile, Honduras, Portugal, Cuba, Czech Republic, Costa Rica, Romania, and Slovakia have approved the cultivation of GE crops. Companies that market genetically altered seeds are granted patent rights over their genetic creations. The monopolized patenting of seeds creates tremendous restrictions on independent farmers. The international patenting rights are often enforced by non-government organizations like the World Trade Organization. The same companies selling agricultural chemical fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides to farmers are also the same companies marketing GE seeds. These licensing rules restrict farmers from being able to save their seeds after harvest. False Advertising

The bio-tech industry and their sponsors spew a tremendous amount of propaganda. Advocates of the bio-tech chemical industry falsely claim that GMOs require less chemicals, produce larger yields, and cost less than all natural seeds. According to organizations like the International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-Biotech Applications, GMOs are the answer to feeding an overpopulated world. To them, independent farmers are saving money through buying and planting copyrighted seeds. Just like software, the consumer does not own the software; instead they are buying the ability to use the software. The same case goes with GE seeds patented by the private sector. A decade later the bio-tech chemical companies (unsurprisingly) still have not made good on many of their claims. (Genetic Roulette: The Gamble of Our Lives. 2012).

Although pesticide use in agriculture gradually decreased with the use of insect resistant GE crops, herbicide use has skyrocketed.

Herbicide-resistant crop technology has led to a 239 million kilogram (527 million pound) increase in herbicide use in the United States between 1996 and 2011, while Bt crops have reduced insecticide applications by 56 million kilograms (123 million pounds). Overall, pesticide use increased by an estimated 183 million kgs (404 million pounds), or about 7%.” (Benbrook, Charles M. According to a report published by the Union of Concerned Scientists, GE crops do not increase yields. IR crops have increased corn yields marginally, contributing an entire 0.2-0.3% increase between 1996 and 2009.

Public discourse on GE should carefully distinguish between operational yield and intrinsic yield, noting that GE crops to date have not contributed traits that would increase the latter. The U.S. Department of Agriculture, state and local agricultural agencies, and public and private universities should redirect substantial funding, research, and incentives toward approaches that are proven and show more promise than genetic engineering for improving crop yields, especially intrinsic crop yields, and for providing other societal benefits. The price of GE soybean, corn, and cotton seeds has risen sharply since their introduction in 1996. The following data is derived from a study comparing the prices of organic and GE seeds. [Page 6] Soybeans: “In the 25 years from 1975 to 2000, the all soybean seed price rose about 63%. In the next ten years, the price rose another 230%. Over the full 35 years (1975-2009), the average all soybean seed price rose from $10.50 to $48.30 per bushel. Since 2001 when the NASS [National Agriculture Statistics Service] started reporting the price of conventional and biotech seed separately, GE soybean seeds have risen in price 107%, from $23.90 to $49.60, while conventional soybean seeds have risen 88%, from $17.90 to $33.70. At $70.00 per bag, RR 2 soybean seed in 2010 will cost farmers twice as much as conventional seeds, and reflect a 143% increase in the price of GE soybean seed since 2001. Organic soybean seed, on the other hand, is 7% to 23% cheaper than GE seeds. The projected average cost of organic soybean seed in 2010 is $48.56, a level that reflects a 33% premium over the $36.40 price of conventional seeds.”

[Page 7] Corn: “Over the last 35 years, the average “all corn” price of seed has risen 5.9-fold, from $36.50 per unit (80,000 seeds) in 1975 to $217.00 per unit in 2009. The USDA started surveying and reporting the cost of biotech seeds in 2001. In that year, the average price of GE seed was $110.00, compared to $85.30 for conventional seed. The GE corn seed-to-conventional seed premium was therefore 29%. In 2009, the GE corn-to-conventional corn seed premium had shot upward dramatically to 69%, with GE seeds averaging $235.00 per unit and conventional seeds, $139.00. Corn growers planting the new, eight-stack “SmartStax” corn hybrids in 2010 will be paying even more -- $320.00 per unit.”.

[Page 7] Cotton:Over the last 35 years, the average price of one hundred pounds of cotton seed has risen from $33.60 to $589, or 17.5 fold. But from 1975 through 1996, the year GE cotton was first sold, the price had nearly doubled. In the GE era from 1996 through 2010, the price skyrocketed from $73 to $589 per CWT [hundred weight]. Cotton seed price inflation has been driven largely by GE trait “technology fees.” In 2001 when the average GE cotton variety included about 1.5 traits, GE cotton seed cost $217 per CWT, compared to $87 for conventional seed (i.e., 2.5-fold higher). By 2010, GE trait penetration had reached nearly three traits per cotton seed variety and seed prices had escalated to $700 per CWT, while conventional seeds had risen more incrementally to $119, resulting in a remarkable 5.9-fold premium for GE cotton seed, compared to conventional seed.”.

From these studies, we can conclude that GMOs do not decrease chemical use in agriculture, do not significantly increase yield rates, and are not cheaper than conventional seed. Independent farmers are told lies from the corporations selling them patented property. The farmers who purchase GM seeds technically do not own the seeds they purchase. This means that farmers are not legally allowed to save reproduced GM seeds. When GM seeds cross contaminate neighboring farm fields, companies that own the patent are somehow allowed to sue the farmers.

Herbicide Tolerance

Glyphosate, or N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine, is one of the world’s most widely used broad-spectrum herbicides and accounts for around 25% of the global herbicide market.” (“What is glyphosate?” Industry Task Force on Glyphosate. 2016).

Roundu is a well known herbicide trademark brand marketed by Monsanto, a notorious chemical company known for their draconian history. Roundup is a chemical mixture of glyphosate and adjuvants. The Monsanto company is also responsible for the production of poly-chlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polystyrene (Styrofoam), Agent Orange, DDT, recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH), and aspartame. ("Report: Herbicide, Chemical Fertilizer Use Doubled on Vermont Dairy Farms in a Decade. 2015) ("Timeline: Monsanto's Chemical Romance" 2016).

The bio-tech chemical companies have engineered commercial crops to become tolerant of herbicide application. A prominent example is Monsanto's Roundup Ready corn and soybeans. The Roundup Ready crops are designed to absorb glyphosate and survive, while the weeds around them die. (Genetic Roulette: The Gamble of Our Lives. 2012)

Due to constant treatment of weeds with herbicides, the weeds develop a stronger tolerance to chemical applications. This creates what is known as “super weeds”. Since 2010, there are over twenty-three species of glyphosate resistant weeds, wjich are currently covering approximately 120 million hectares of land. ("Why Glyphosate Should Be Banned - A Review of Its Hazards to Health and the Environment - The Permaculture Research Institute" 2012).

Roundup® kills plants by interfering with a biochemical pathway involved with synthesis of amino acids, called the shikimate [acid metabolic] pathway. This pathway is not found in humans, therefore it was assumed that glyphosate does not harm humans. The pathway is found in bacteria, however, and humans depend on bacteria in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract to synthesize the essential amino acids. By interfering with the biochemistry of bacteria in our GI tract, consumption of glyphosate depletes essential amino acids and predisposes humans to a host of chronic health problems. Specifically, glyphosate depletes the amino acids tyrosine, tryptophan, and phenylalanine, which can then contribute to obesity, depression, autism, inflammatory bowel disease, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s.” (Coleman, Pamela. Roundup was approved for the United State's market in 1974. Prior to 1995, only 12.5 million kilograms (28 million pounds) of Roundup was applied for both agricultural and commercial. By 2000, Roundup use increased to 36 million kilograms (79 million pounds). This sharp increase parallels with the initial integration of GM crops. Between 1974 and 2014, over 1.37 billion kilograms (3 billion pounds) of glyphosate was applied in United States agriculture. International glyphosate use between 2005 and 2014 has surpassed an estimated 6.1 billion kilograms. (“Trends in Glyphosate Herbicide Use in the United States and Globally" 2016).

Over six billion kilograms of a carcinogenic chemical sprayed on the world's food supply is quite horrific. This chemical is leeched into our environment through water run-off and spray drifts. Eventually this chemical will contaminate world water supplies, and accumulate in every living organism. As our entire world becomes saturated with this chemical, crops that are not GE to tolerate the herbicide will have difficulty surviving.

Glyphosate-containing herbicides are applied in large amounts to crops 2 to 3 times per season to remove weeds and dry out grain in a process called ‘desiccation’ [22]. Once applied, glyphosate accumulates in leaves, grains or fruit. Glyphosate residues cannot be removed by washing and they are not broken down by cooking [23]. In 2015, Glyphosate was listed as “probably carcinogenic” by the WHO. Multiple studies have been published providing concrete evidence on the toxic effects of glyphosate with mammals.

Epidemiological evidence supports strong temporal correlations between glyphosate usage on crops and a multitude of cancers that are reaching epidemic proportions, including breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, kidney cancer, thyroid cancer, liver cancer, bladder cancer and myeloid leukaemia.” (Samsel, Anthony, and Stephanie Seneff. The carcinogenic properties of glyphosate consumption are further supported by a number of other scientific studies. The Long Term Toxicity of a Roundup Herbicide and a Roundup-tolerant Genetically Modified Maize was a two year animal study determining the safety of Roundup Ready crops and glyphosate. The study was carried out by a team of researchers at the University of Caen, France, and was published in 2012. The study confirmed that glyphosate is not only carcinogenic, but is also responsible for major organ failure. While Monsanto funded studies drew conclusions after ninety day trials, this study continued for two years. The study confirmed that the first signs of tumors were developed after four months in the glyphosate treated test group. The following is the abstract.

[Abstract]“The health effects of a Roundup-tolerant genetically modified maize (from 11% in the diet), cultivated with or without Roundup, and Roundup alone (from 0.1 ppb in water), were studied 2 years in rats. In females, all treated groups died 2–3 times more than controls, and more rapidly. This difference was visible in 3 male groups fed GMOs. All results were hormone and sex dependent, and the pathological profiles were comparable. Females developed large mammary tumors almost always more often than and before controls, the pituitary was the second most disabled organ; the sex hormonal balance was modified by GMO and Roundup treatments. In treated males, liver congestions and necrosis were 2.5–5.5 times higher. This pathology was confirmed by optic and transmission electron microscopy. Marked and severe kidney nephropathiesi were also generally 1.3–2.3 greater. Males presented 4 times more large palpable tumors than controls which occurred up to 600 days earlier. Biochemistry data confirmed very significant kidney chronic deficiencies; for all treatments and both sexes, 76% of the altered parameters were kidney related. These results can be explained by the non linear endocrine-disrupting effects of Roundup, but also by the over expression of the transgene in the GMO and its metabolic consequences.”

The study Long Term Toxicity of a Roundup Herbicide and a Roundup-tolerant Genetically Modified Maize was retracted from the Journal of Food and Chemical Toxicology on November 28th, 2013. The study met criticism from the pro-GMO scientific community, citing that the study lacked ethics. Critics also accused the study of testing a cancer prone species of rodents. The publisher of the Journal of Food and Chemical Toxicology is Elsevier, the same company that publishes hundreds of other scientific and medical information journals including The Lancet and The Cell. The publisher confirmed that the findings of the study were correct, but the results were not “conclusive” enough to be used as further scientific premise. The following is an excerpt of Elsevier's statement on retraction.

Unequivocally, the Editor-in-Chief found no evidence of fraud or intentional misrepresentation of the data. However, there is a legitimate cause for concern regarding both the number of animals in each study group and the particular strain selected. The low number of animals had been identified as a cause for concern during the initial review process, but the peer-review decision ultimately weighed that the work still had merit despite this limitation... Ultimately, the results presented (while not incorrect) are inconclusive, and therefore do not reach the threshold of publication for Food and Chemical Toxicology ” (Elsevier. A study carried out by a team of researchers at the University of Leipzig, Germany examined glyphosate residue in urine samples collected from dairy cows, hares, rabbits, and humans. The study detected residue through using ELISA (glyphosate detecting kits) and gas chromatography mass spectroscopy (GS-MS). Glyphosate residue was detected in all the collected samples. In the human samples, glyphosate residue using ELISA was detected between 0.1 micro-grams to 71.2 micro-grams. GS-MS tests detected levels between 0.1 micro-gramas and 40 micro-grams.

Glyphosate was significantly higher (P<0.0002) in human conventional feed compared with predominantly organic feed (Figure 3). Also the glyphosate residues in urine were grouped according to the human health status. Chronically ill humans had significantly higher (P=0.03) glyphosate residues in urine that healthy humans (Figure 2).(Krüger, Monika, Philipp Schledorn, Wieland Schrödl, Hans-Wolfgang Hoppe, Walburga Lutz, and Awad Shehata A. This study provides evidence that glyphosate residues are present in people who consume glyphosate treated crops. People who are exposed to glyphosate residue are more likely to suffer the ill health effects associated with glyphosate and HT (herbicide tolerant) food crops.

Published evidence regarding the safety of GMOs has been continually rejected by the EPA and FDA. Even more outrageous is that there are scientists and doctors who have testified before Congress claiming glyphosate is safe. For instance, On July 28th, 2010, professor Micheal D. Owens testimony to the United State's Senate Subcommittee on Domestic Policy.

Because it [glyphosate] binds to the soil rapidly, is biodegraded by soil bacteria, and has a very low toxicity to mammals, birds, and fish, glyphosate kills most plants without substantial adverse environmental effects on animals or soil or water quality. The widespread adoption of glyphosate-resistant crops has therefore reduced the use of more toxic (albeit EPA-registered) herbicides in soybean, cotton, and corn fields.” (Owen, Micheal. However, according to the Institute of Responsible Technology:

GM crops and their associated herbicides can harm birds, insects, amphibians, marine ecosystems, and soil organisms. They reduce bio-diversity, pollute water resources, and are unsustainable. For example, GM crops are eliminating habitat for monarch butterflies, whose populations are down 50% in the US. Roundup herbicide has been shown to cause birth defects in amphibians, embryonic deaths and endocrine disruptions, and organ damage in animals even at very low doses. GM canola has been found growing wild in North Dakota and California, threatening to pass on its herbicide tolerant genes on to weeds.” ("Top Ten Reason to Avoid GMOs" Institute for Responsible Technology. 2016).

According to the 2012 report Why Glyphosate Should Be Banned – A Review of its Hazards to Health and the Environment, glyphosate application is a threat to the world's biosphere. The international exponential increase of glyphosate use is responsible for the:

Insect Resistance

Bt is a microbial control agent (MCA) that produces a range of entomopathogenici toxins [10,11]. The most prominent feature of Bt is that during sporulation it synthesizes δ-endotoxins or insecticidal crystal proteins (ICPs), which are parasporalii crystalline protein inclusions containing crystal proteins (Cry proteins or Cry toxins) as their major constituent [12–15]. These are toxic to larvae of susceptible insects and small invertebrates [1,16], and their use in combating predators from the Hymenoptera, Homoptera, Orthoptera, Coleoptera, Diptera and Lepdoptera Orders, the main cause of damage to agriculture, has been effective [7,17].” ("Hematotoxicity of Bacillus Thuringiensis as Spore-crystal Strains Cry1Aa, Cry1Ab, Cry1Ac or Cry2Aa in Swiss Albino Mice." Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) is a rod shaped bacteria naturally found in soil that produces insecticidal spores. The Bt bacteria has been used as a bio-pesticide in conventional agriculture for several decades. Within the last decade, geneticist have inserted the DNA of the Bt insecticide protein producing gene into the genetic sequence of commercial crops. GE crop strains are developed to infect specific insects with pesticide producing proteins. ("Hematotoxicity of Bacillus Thuringiensis as Spore-crystal Strains Cry1Aa, Cry1Ab, Cry1Ac or Cry2Aa in Swiss Albino Mice").

When the plant is eaten by the target insect the toxin binds to receptors in the insect’s gut, causing the gut wall to break down and allowing toxins and normal gut bacteria to enter the body. A study conducted by a team of scientists at the Department of Genetics and Morphology at the University of Brasilia, Brazil, assessed the safety of the Bt Cry toxins integrated in GE foods. The study administered Bt spore crystals suspended in distilled water to Swiss albino mice. The four commercial Bt toxins tested were Cry1Aa, Cry1Ab, Cry1Ac and Cry2. Previously accepted studies concluded that the Bt toxins were, nontoxic to humans, broke down in the human digestive tract, did not accumulate in tissue, and did not remain isolated in the environment.

The recorded hematoxicity of the Bt toxin contradict previously accepted scientific data. After seven days of exposure, the erythrocytes (red blood cell) count of tested mice decreased significantly. The toxins within seven days decreased hemoglobin and thrombocytes (platelet) counts significantly, as well as damage body tissue. The Cry toxins also increased lymphocytes and neutrophils counts, due to the inflammatory response caused from the Bt pesticide.

In conclusion, results showed that the Bt spore-crystals genetically modified to express individually Cry1Aa, Cry1Ab, Cry1Ac or Cry2A can cause some hematological risks to vertebrates, increasing their toxic effects with long-term exposure. Taking into account the increased risk of human and animal exposures to significant levels of these toxins, especially through diet, our results suggest that further studies are required to clarify the mechanism involved in the hematotoxicity found in mice, and to establish the toxicological risks to non-target organisms, especially mammals, before concluding that these microbiological control agents are safe for mammals.” ("Hematotoxicity of Bacillus Thuringiensis as Spore-crystal Strains Cry1Aa, Cry1Ab, Cry1Ac or Cry2Aa in Swiss Albino Mice." Previous experiments have demonstrated that mice fed Bt corn MON810 experienced intestinal complications. The Cry1Ab is the primary pesticide producing protein genetically engineered into Monsanto's MON810 corn. Several studies now have recorded data regarding the damage the Bt toxin poses on the human digestive tract. Animal feeding studies using Bt feed have resulted in damage to the small intestine, liver, kidney, spleen, and pancreas. Other mice feeding studies have recorded that the Bt toxin proteins bind to the mucous membrane of the small intestine. ("3.8 Myth: GM Bt Insecticidal Crops Are Harmless to Animals and Humans. The combination of glyphosate and Bt toxin ingestion has been linked to intestinal permeability, imbalanced levels of gut bacteria, allergies, triggered immune responses, impaired digestion, and intestinal wall damage. This data correlates with the increase of foodborne allergies, including the unprecedented level of gluten allergies.

[Page 2] “Many people do not develop reactivity to gluten until later in life, which supports the notion that it can be triggered by environmental factors. The only study to date that has been able to effectively trigger an immunological shift to gluten sensitivity was done in mice in 2011.[19] The study showed that retinoic acid, a metabolite of vitamin A, activated a specific immune response to gluten under inflammatory conditions in the gut. It turns out that glyphosate, the primary herbicide used on GM crops, increases retinoic acid activity.[20] If glyphosate activates retinoic acid, and retinoic acid activates gluten sensitivity, eating GMOs soaked with glyphosate may play a role in the onset of gluten-related disorders.” (Smith, Jeffrey M. Furthermore, the introduction of pesticide producing genetic proteins into our digestive tract would provide evidence supporting the increased rate of poor gut health. GM IR (insect resistant) crops kill insects by producing pesticide proteins that puncture the intestinal wall of the insects. The same effect could very well be the case with humans. We must understand that the our bodies share a mutual relationship with an entire biosphere of bacteria. The introduction of genetic sequences not naturally found in nature could very well cause the genetic mutation of our intestinal gut bacteria. This would explain the increased rate of poor gut health in humans, and the implications that follow. The permeability of the intestines allows for undigested food particles to enter the bloodstream, and thereby prompt an auto-immune response. The antibodies would target the food particle, and therefore make the body immune or allergic to the food. This could explain the sharp increased rate of foodborne allergies within the United States.

Recent studies have provided data confirming that the Bt toxin does not break down during human digestion. A study conducted by scientists at the University of Sherbrooke Hospital Centre in Quebec, Canada, collected blood samples of thirty pregnant women and thirty-nine non-pregnant women. The purpose of the study was to determine the exposure levels of glyphosate and Cry1Ab in humans. Cry1Ab was detected in 90% of pregnant women, 69% of non-pregnant women, and 80% of fetuses. This data further supports the fact that Bt toxins have the potential to remain in the human gastrointestinal tract and cause adverse health effects.
